Fifteen Years Of Programming, Talk About Some Views On CNC Programming...

I have been doing programming for fifteen years, mainly for machining centers. Let me talk about my views on programming.

1. You must understand that programming is for operating computers. Don’t think that programming is good, and look down on operating computers. If you don’t have two or three years of experience in operating computers, you can’t do programming well.

2. To minimize the work of operating the machine, the programs of the same knife should be put together as much as possible to reduce the number of tool changes.

3. Third, when writing the program list, it is necessary to write clearly, what kind of knife to use, how long it is, and whether the program is rough machining or finishing machining. If it is rough machining or semi-finishing, you can choose an old knife.

4. It’s not enough to finish writing the program list. You have to tell the machine operator face to face about your processing method and understanding of the mold to be processed. What is rough and what is fine, where there may be problems, and how to solve problems encountered, must be clearly explained.

5. The program sheet should be written in detail, and all problems in the processing process should be taken into consideration.

6. Don't sit in the office all the time, go to the workshop often. The machining center is often the beginning of the first step of the process. Ask the fitter, driller, wire cutter, and spark machine master what requirements you have for you. Sometimes, if you think about programming more, it will save a lot of trouble for the people behind.

7. Have your own learning method

In fact, everyone's learning methods and learning conditions are different. For example, when some friends first entered the industry, there was a master teaching them hand in hand. In this way, there will be opportunities for practical operation, and the introduction of machining center operation and programming will be mastered quickly. Some people can master it quickly by reading books and self-study, while others need to practice to consolidate. There are many free teaching resources now, and choosing the right method is very important for learning machining center programming.

8. Be diligent in learning and thinking

No matter what method is used, learning is essential. In daily work, you should ask the masters in the workshop for advice. In some occasions, you can show the programs you write. Don't be afraid of making mistakes, and don't be afraid of difficulties. In terms of thinking about problems, you can learn from the "fifteen-minute rule" in Western psychology. If you don't have a clue after thinking about a problem for 15 minutes, then it may be that you have a short board in cognition, or even a blind spot. At this time, you can tentatively decide on the work in progress, ask your colleagues if there is a way to solve the problem, and express your original thinking clearly and objectively, so as to reflect the significance of thinking to the programming of the machining center.

9. Start with the most basic machining center operation

Programming without knowing how to operate the machine is like talking on paper. Only after you actually understand the tool path can you have the most suitable tool movement mode in your heart. This kind of experience cannot be understood without personal experience. Only by practicing it yourself can you know what is still lacking in the skills you have mastered. In addition, programming is a skill related to design, which requires inspiration based on rich practical operations.

The development of CNC technology in recent years is showing a blowout trend, and the programming technology is also upgrading and developing. Only by continuous learning, continuous thinking and continuous practice can we better master the technology of machining center programming.
